　　1、breaking news當新聞是breaking的時候，并不是指破裂了，而是指當前正在發生最新的新聞報道。例如"we've got some important, breaking news for you tonight."

　　2、"this just in..."新聞報道者喜歡使用這個短語向觀眾介紹breaking news，也就是告訴我們此條新聞是最新的。"this just in, a new candidate has decided to run for mayor."

　　3、top story如果你在新聞中聽到這些詞時需要特別注意，這意味著新聞里正在報道最重要的新聞信息。例如，你可能聽到，"in our top story, we'll take a look at the ongoing criminal investigation."

　　4、in-depth coverage有時新聞節目只提供新聞故事的概述，但有時他們也播放top stories的in-depth coverage coverage指的是對新聞故事的報道，而in-depth是指非常詳細的意思。

　　5、"our sources tell us..."新聞報道者的工作不是編造故事，而是依賴于sources，或是被采訪的人來向他們提供事實。當報道者不希望指出他們sources的來源話，他們可以用以上的短語開始報道。

　　6、exclusive interview新聞社常常互相競爭以此獲得重要sources的exclusive interviews。這意味著他們是唯一一個有著新聞來源的電視臺。

　　7、stay tuned這個短語是“請繼續收看”的另一種說法。新聞播報者使用這個短語來介紹接下來的報道以吊住觀眾的胃口，這樣他們就不會轉換頻道了。 "stay tuned for our exclusive interview with the key witness to the crime."

　　8、reporting live有時新聞主持人在事件發生后報道新聞，而有時新聞記者在事件發生的地方進行report live。 如："this is jill, reporting live at the white house."

　　9、at the scene當記者report live，他們通常在事件現場報道新聞。或是，換句話說，他們 at the scene(在事件現場)。 比如說："let's hear from john, who's reporting live at the scene."

　　10、now, back to you.。.當該是at the scene的記者作結束語時，他們通常會用這個表達方式將觀眾的視角轉回到電視臺工作室內的主持人那里。如： "now, back to you lisa."
