（1）意為“12個，1打”，前有基數(shù)詞時不用復(fù)數(shù)，可以省略of。

two dozen （of）eggs 兩打雞蛋　　　two dozen pencils 兩打鉛筆

dozens of eggs 幾打雞蛋　　　　　　a dozen pieces 很多片

several dozen socks 幾打襪子

（2）在人稱代詞、指示代詞、物主代詞前，of不可省。

a dozen of them 他們中十二個

a dozen of your eggs 你的一打雞蛋

（3）泛指時dozens后的of不可省。

many/several/a few dozens of 數(shù)打

dozens of people 幾十個人

2.score

（1）意為“20個”，前有基數(shù)詞時不用復(fù)數(shù)，一般不省略of。

three score of eggs 六十只雞蛋

several scores of ships 好幾十條船

a score of times 許多次

a score of them 他們中的二十個

two score of these books 這些書中的四十本

（2）泛指時用復(fù)數(shù)

scores and scores of people 許多人

3.“大約數(shù)”的表達(dá)

（1）大于某數(shù)的表示法：用more than，over，or more

more than/over fifty people 五十多個人

children of fourteen and over 十四歲和十四歲以上的少年

sixty students or more 六十或六十多個學(xué)生

（2）小于某數(shù)的表示：用less than，under，almost，nearly，below

It cost me less than 10 pounds.我買它花了不到10英鎊。

Children under six years old are admitted free.未滿6歲的兒童可免費入場。

It’s nearly/almost 10 o’clock.快10點了。

The temperature is five degrees below zero.溫度是零下5度。

（3）其他表示：用or，or so，about，around，round，some，more or less

I’ll come back in three or four days.我過三四天就回來。

We stayed an hour or so.我們停留了一個小時左右。

It will cost around/round/about 100 dollars.那大概要花100美元。

Some 100 people attended the meeting.大約100人參加了會議。

【提示】 “一兩分鐘”通常用a minute or two或one or two minutes。
